Opening Fanfare

The traditional Summer Sounds opening fanfare will open this year’s festival at 13.00 and at 18.40 at the Art Factory lobby. The composer of this year’s fanfare is Tomi Räisänen.

Afternoon with Valle Rosenberg

The Summer Sounds concert series will start with Avanti! string trio concert at the Old Town Hall where painting from the young expressionist Valle Rosenberg (1891-1919) will be combined with music from his contemporaries.

The star of the opening Avanti Hall concert for Summer Sounds is Wu Wei and his instrument sheng. The Finnish premiere of Teoton by Jukka Tiensuu will take place the same evening at the Art Factory. The programme consists of music seen through Baroque lenses. Arrangements by Johanness Schöllhorn provide a playful angle to the music of J.S. Bach.

The opening concert of the Summer Sounds will continue in the Art Factory Foyer, as after the concert the guests can enjoy improvisation by sound engineer and electronic artist Tuomas Norvio and Wu Wei. The festival bus back to Helsinki will leave approximately at 21.45 or 15 minutes after the end of the concert.
