Avanti! returns with its acclaimed RIITTI programme to the atmospheric Tuomiokirkko in Porvoo. Taking advantage of the space and acoustics of the church, Avanti! combines new and old music. The evening will culminate in an electric cello concerto \u201cStory Opera Ballet\u201d,<\/em> composed by Jukka Tiensuu for Juho Laitinen. <\/p>\n

Among the well-known composers of the Baroque period, Henry Purcell’s \u201cThe Queen’s<\/em> Funeral March \u201d<\/em> and MarinMarais’s \u201cSonnerie de Ste-Genevi\u00e8ve du Mont de Paris\u201d<\/em> from the biographical film \u201cAll the Mornings of My Life\u201d will be performed. <\/p>\n

As its name suggests, Avant’s Riitti concert makes use of ritual, both in terms of the works and their form. Ranging from the solemnity of the Baroque to the futuristic atmosphere of the 20th century, the concert includes baroque hits as well as rarely heard 1950s tape recordings. The concert will close with Jukka Tiensuu’s Electric Cello Concerto, premiered last spring. <\/p>\n
