The commissioner&#8217;s wish was to use a theme borrowed from indigenous North American music. Gann did not do this, but he does use the rhythmic structures he developed from his love of Hopi and Pueblo music.  <\/p><p data-start=\"497\" data-end=\"771\"><b>Arto Koskinen&#8217;<\/b> <em>s Fuga Indiana (1993\/2000) <\/em>combines North Indian modes with Western polyphony. Joonas Ahonen&#8217;s recording of the work for the Alpha label was named one of Helsingin Sanomat&#8217;s best albums of 2024. At the Avanti Club, the work will be performed at <i>Fantasia in S\u00e2ranga<\/i>.  <\/p><div><strong>Christian Mason<\/strong>, himself a throat-singing enthusiast and winner of the prestigious Grawemeyer Prize 2025, has arranged two volumes of Pigeon and Sardinian throat-singing folk music for string quartet. For this concert, a few examples from the Sardinian tradition were selected.   <\/div><div> <\/div><div>The throat song is based on the use of the upper range, and <strong>Rapha\u00ebl Languillat<\/strong> takes that same phenomenon as his starting point in the club&#8217;s closing strumming-inspired work <i>Flagellatio ii (torso)<\/i> &#8211;
