Esko-Juhani Tennilä performs as soloist at the avant-garde’s 30th anniversary opening event

Politician and former MP Esko-Juhani Tennilä sings “Merciless Going” by Sepi Kumpulainen at the opening event of Avant’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The song is part of a history show that explores the last thirty years through music and social phenomena.

The opening event will take place at the Old Student House on 28.9.2013. The impressive line-up includes conductors Jukka-Pekka Saraste and John Storgårds, composer Magnus Lindberg, cellist Anssi Karttunen and guitarist Marzi Nyman. The opening ceremony will be accompanied by a full programme for the whole season.

Avanti! Chamber Orchestra’s 30th anniversary opening event will take place at the Old Student House on 28 September 2013. The impressive line-up includes conductors Jukka-Pekka Saraste and John Storgårds, composer Magnus Lindberg and cellist Anssi Karttunen.

The opening ceremony will be accompanied by the publication of the full programme for the whole period.

Avanti! goes on tour with Apocalyptica

The heavy metal band Apocalyptica will be co-touring with Avant in spring 2014. The three-week tour will take in several cities in Finland, Russia, Germany and the Baltic countries. The tour starts at the Oulu Music Festival on 9 March 2014. The programme will include music rarely performed by the band, arranged for the 25-piece orchestra by Jaakko Kuusisto. Kuusisto will also conduct the Oulu concert. Apocalyptica is responsible for ticket sales. Follow the news on the Apocalyptica website.
