- Temppeliaukio Church
About the concert
The Tampere Biennale concert can also be experienced the following day in Helsinki! As an exception, instead of Agata Zubel’s work, the program will feature the world premiere of Sampo Kasurinen’s concerto for Disklavier and chamber orchestra.
The concert opens with the irrepressible energy of the young Magnus Lindberg and the premiere of a solo trumpet work by the exceptionally talented Marcus Hu. Sophia Chambon’s Noirs explores, as its title suggests, the color black. Ville Aslak Raasakka’s Ballast addresses the state of the Baltic Sea from both ecological and geopolitical perspectives. The work’s audio track features sounds of cargo ships from the underwater maritime noise monitoring of the Finnish Environment Institute. The cello pilots the chamber orchestra through the sounds of engines and metal toward the communication breakdowns of marine life and severed data cables.
