About the concert
If you’ve already seen Olavi Uusivirra at unmissable club gigs, big festival stages and elegant concert halls, come and experience this 360-degree experience too!
Olavi Uusivirra’s music will be heard bigger than ever before on the stage of the Helsinki Music Centre’s Concert Hall, as his usually four-piece band expands into a giant ensemble of up to several dozen musicians.
Olavi Uusivirta will be joined by three orchestras: the Avant Chamber Orchestra, the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and the Finnish Baroque Orchestra. At the heart of the concert are Olavi Uusivirta and his familiar hits, which will be examined from all angles, rotated through a full 360 degrees and spiced up with baroque, jazz and contemporary music.
This is the first time Uusivirta has collaborated with major orchestras. The orchestras’ own repertoire is fused with Uusivirta’s music in unexpectedly vivid and fruitfully clashing arrangements. In the concert, extremes meet, from minimalist to maximalist and from dark to light.
The new arrangements are by Sanna Salmenkallio, Timo Hietala, Marzi Nyman, Arttu Takalo and Tapio Viitasaari. The concert will be conducted by conductor Eero Lehtimäki.
